Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met with Meng Jianzhu, Politburo member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in Singapore on February 10.

Lee Hsien Loong underlined the great potential for cooperation between Singapore and China, adding that Singapore is willing to increase collaboration with China in the sectors of trade, finance, tourism, social governance, and law enforcement.

He said Singapore will accelerate joint projects at governmental level and work to enhance mutual trust and exchanges between ASEAN and China.

Meng Jianzhu, who is head of the CPC Central Committee’s Commission for Political and Legal Affairs, said China is willing to work with Singapore to boost cooperation on economic fields, social governance and the third governmental level projects, as 2015 marks 25 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He said China is keen to strengthen cooperation with Singapore to further the China-ASEAN relations, while boosting the partnership such areas as drug control, cyber security, trans-national criminals hunt and mutual legal assistance.

During his visit to Singapore, the Chinese Party official also held talks with Teo Chee Hean, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs.-VNA
