Slovenia pledges favourable conditions for Vietnamese firms

Hanoi (VNA) – President of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry(GZS) Tibor Simonka has affirmed the readiness to cooperate with Vietnam to createconditions for the two countries’ enterprises, while meeting with VietnameseAmbassador to Austria and Slovenia Nguyen Trung Kien.

Kien had a working session with Simonka on the occasion of his attendance inthe 18th Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia on August 28 - 29.

He lauded the growing economic ties between the two countries, especially sincethe successful visit to Vietnam by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Ministerof Slovenia Tanja Fajon in May.

Amid the post-pandemiceconomic - trade crisis facing both sides’ enterprises, enhancing the connectivityand unlocking cooperation opportunities for the Port of Koper of Slovenia and theports of Ho Chi Minh City will help Vietnamese firms, as well as those in Asia,deal with soaring transportation costs and reduce the delivery duration, headded.

Simonkaaffirmed that his country is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to create favourableconditions for both countries’ enterprises in the areas boasting rich cooperationpotential such as tourism, clean energy, environmental technology, pharmaceuticaland medical equipment production, labour export, and plastic waste treatment.

He saidthanks to the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), enterprises of both countrieshave further expanded business and trade partnerships, with Slovenia’s exportsto Vietnam expected to top 22.6 million EUR (24.48 million USD) in 2023, up 58%from last year.

The GZS leader also pledged support for andcontinued coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy to increase activities facilitatingbilateral economic and business ties. He also affirmed that he will keep proposingthe Slovenian Government soon ratify the EU - Vietnam Investment ProtectionAgreement (EVIPA).            

The annualBled Strategic Forum, held in Bled city, is the biggest political - diplomatic forumin West Balkan region, gathering hundreds of senior officials of EU countriesand others in the world./.

HCM City to use municipal budget for Metro Line No. 2 project

The Metro Line No. 2 project has an estimated investment of nearly 47.9 trillion VND (2 billion USD) and has nearly completed land clearance, at 99.8%. The NA’s Resolution 188 authorises HCM City to develop seven metro lines spanning 355 kilometres over the next decade, with preliminary total investment for the 2025-2035 phase estimated at 40.2 billion USD.
