The Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) presented the Smart City Awards 2024 to 10 localities and authors of nine smart technological solutions during the Vietnam-Asia Smart City Summit 2024, held in Hanoi on December 3.
A delegation of Buon Ma Thuot in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, led by Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Vu Van Hung, visited France from December 12-14 to learn from French and international partners about green and sustainable urban planning.
The 2024 Vietnam – Asia Smart City Summit will take place in Hanoi on December 2-3 under the theme “Smart city – Digital economy – Sustainable development", according to the Vietnam Software & IT Services Association (VINASA).
Building a smart city with a smart payment system playing a key role has helped Hanoi gradually transform and make breakthroughs in the process of development, said Ha Minh Hai, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee.
Since its establishment in October 2019, the National Innovation Centre (NIC) has become the core of the country’s innovation ecosystem and a bridge between the State, enterprises, training institutes, research centres, financial institutions and incubation support units to lead, build and develop Vietnam's innovation, said Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.
Vietnam can learn a lot from Singapore and other countries to build a smart government and smart cities so as to pave the way for rapid progress in the future, according to Associate Prof., Dr. Vu Minh Khuong at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy under the National University of Singapore.
A ceremony was held in Hanoi on August 13 to inaugurate the Vietnam – Korea cooperation centre for smart city and construction technology (VKC) by the Ministry of Construction and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Owning a large number of cultural heritages and creative spaces, Hanoi, a Creative City of Design since 2019, has been on the right track to become a “green, smart and modern” city by 2030 by optimising its strengths and potential, especially from creative resources.
The central city of Da Nang wants to promote cooperation with Swedish partners, especially when Vietnam and Sweden celebrate the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year, said Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Chi Cuong.
The Institute for Management Development (IMD) in collaboration with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organisation (WeGO) in April released rankings of the world’s leading smart cities for 2024. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City both found their way on to the list this year.
