Soc Trang (VNA) – The MekongDelta province of Soc Trang inaugurated its modern water supply station on June26.

The station cost to build 5.9 billionVND (about 259,630 USD). Of which, three billion VND (132,000 USD) was sourcedfrom the Central Vietnam Disaster Prevention Support Fund and the rest was fromthe local budget and social resources.

The station has an operationalcapacity of 240 cubic metres daily. With a 7,400 metres long pipeline, it willprovide clean water to 410 households in Tong Cang hamlet, Tran De district. Todate, 173 household have access to clean water from the station.

Tran De district of Soc Trang wasamong localities hit hardest by drought and saline intrusion in 2016.

The station is the first in Soc Trangprovince to apply reverse osmosis technology which uses saltwater to produceclean water meeting Health Ministry standards.

Le Van Hieu, Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee stressed the water station is expected to meetdemand of people living in dry localities, contributing to building new stylerural areas.-VNA

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.
