Hanoi (VNA) – Lawmakers continued their discussions on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget in 2017, as well as orientations and measures for 2018 on November 1 as part of the ongoing fourth sitting of the 14th National Assembly.
Opinions raised at the working session focused on how to improve growth quality, the role of science-technology policies, measures to balance the state budget and make effective mid-term public investment, and the combination of financial solutions with growth target and economic restructuring.
They also touched upon infrastructure development, logistics strategies, settlement of loss-making projects, organic agricultural development, food safety, social welfare, health care, health insurance, sustainable poverty reduction and development gap between urban and rural areas.
Issues relating to education, environmental protection, natural disaster and climate change response, culture, tourism, administrative reform, national defence and security were tabled.
Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung cleared up questions raised by the deputies.
The lawmakers are scheduled to further debate socio-economic and state budget issues on November 2 morning. The working session will be broadcast live on national television and radio channels and widely covered by the media.
