Son La: Lao nationals arrested for drug trafficking

Son La (VNA) – Two Lao nationals were arrested on suspicion of smuggling 12,000 methamphetamine pills in Moc Chau district, the northern mountainous province of Son La on March 4.

They were detained by local police, who also seized the drugs and three phones, among other items, from the suspects.

The two are Vang A De, male, born in 1988, and Trang Thi Dua, female, 1974. Both reside in Muong village, Sop Bao district of Laos’ Houaphan province. 

They admitted they had impersonated farmers walking through off-the-beaten-track roads to traffic drugs into Vietnam.

The case is under further investigation.

Vietnam and Laos share a border of nearly 2,340 km that runs across through 10 Vietnamese provinces, including Dien Bien, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Kon Tum.

The line also appears in 10 Lao provinces, namely Phongsaly, Luang Prabang, Houaphan, Bolykhamsay, Khammoune, Savannakhet, Salavan, Xiengkhouang, Sepon, and Attapeu.-VNA
