SonLa (VNA) – Police in the northern border province of Son La on October31 caught red-handed two man smuggling drugs in Cuong Muong hamlet, Muong Chumcommune, Muong La district.

MuaA Dua, 30, residing in Chieng Hoa commune, Muong La district, and hisaccomplice Hang A Gang, 35, residing in Chieng Cang commune, Song Ma district,were arrested while illegally transporting one brick of heroin (around 350 grammes)and more than 5,000 methamphetamine pills.

Threedays earlier, police in Song Ma district, Son La province, captured two localwomen, seizing five bricks of heroin (some 1.75kg), 30,000 meth pills and otherexhibits.

Thearrestees included Song Thi Dia, born in 1969, and Ho Thi Dua, born in 1979,both residing in Bua Hin hamlet, Muong Hung commune, Song Ma district.

Diaand Dua admitted that they had bought the drugs from a Lao man at the borderarea.

Thepolice seized an additional 2,200 meth pills and a small packet of heroin whenraiding Dua’s house.

19 localities eradicate substandard houses

Vietnam accelerates repatriation of citizens detained in Myanmar

On April 8, 28, and May 14, three groups comprising a total of 471 citizens safely returned to Vietnam. This marked an important initial success, paving the way for additional repatriation efforts later this month, with the goal of bringing all remaining Vietnamese citizens stranded in Myawaddy, Myanmar, back home as soon as possible.
