HCM City (VNA) – The 7th southern food festival began at Dam Sen Park in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24, treating gastronomic fans to more than 250 local culinary delights.
The five-day event feature 70 food stalls operated by over 40 hotels and restaurants, a wet market offering clean agricultural produce and various folk games.
Visitors can savour 100 types of “che” – a Vietnamese term for local sweet beverage or pudding-like desserts – and cakes at a separated space at the event.
Traditional music lovers, meanwhile, have an opportunity to enjoy the southern folk music Don Ca Tai Tu from many authentic rural singers and instrumentalists.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said the festival will bring the essence of the southern cuisine, culture and tourism for visitors.-VNA
