Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - A Spanish Chamber Music concert will be held at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory to give music lovers a chance to enjoy pieces by Spanish composers on November 30.
The concert will feature popular works Sonatina Jovenivola by Amado Blanquer and Suite Iberia by Isaac Albeni El Albaicin. The pieces will be performed by Spanish pianist Hilario Segovia, who will be appearing in Vietnam for the first time.
He currently teaches at the Flute Falculty at the Castellón Superior Conservatory of Music. He is the founder of the Duo Evocacion which he has performed through Spain, Italy and Ukraine. He won the best pianist award at the 16th Seshizzi International Competition. He is also set to perform with the Sai Gon Philharmonic Orchestra on November 29.
The concert will also feature Vietnamese bassoonist Nguyen Bao Anh and flutist Matthew Wu. The musicians will open the concert with Beethoven’s Trio for Piano, Flute and Bassoon.
Segovia and Anh will perform Schumann’s Three Romances. The concert will end with Segovia and Wu playing Russian Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonate for Flute & Piano.
Bassoonist Anh is Director of the Hong Kong Bassoon Academy in Hong Kong. He has appeared as soloist and as the bassoon principal at several music festivals in Europe including the Carinthia Music Festival in Austria, the British Youth Opera and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra in Germany.
Flutist Wu completed his postgraduate at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He is chairman of the Hong Kong International Flute Competition. Wu is an active member in major orchestras including the Hong Kong Philharmnic Orchestra, the Asian Youth Orchestra and soloist at the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra. — VNS/VNA
