The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) issued a special announcement on the death of former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Central Committee of theCommunist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the National Assembly, the President, theGovernment, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)issued a special announcement on the death of former Politburo member, formerSecretary of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Prime MinisterTruong Vinh Trong.

Comrade Truong Vinh Trong (also known as Hai Nghia) was born onNovember 11, 1942, in Binh Hoa commune, Giong Trom district, the Mekong Deltaprovince of Ben Tre. He resided in Giong Trom district’s Luong Quoi commune.
He passed away at 3:25am on February 19 at the age of 79 dueto ailment and old age.

He joined the revolution in January 1960 and the Party on October 25, 1964.

Comrade Truong Vinh Trong was an alternate member of the 6th-tenure CPV Central Committee; official member of the  CPV Central Committee in the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th tenures; Secretary of the CPV Central Committee in the 9th and 10th tenures; member of the Politburo in the 10th tenure; deputy to the 8th and 11th National Assembly. He wasformer Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Home Affairs,and former Deputy Prime Minister.

Throughout over 60 years of participating in revolutionaryactivities, he made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the CPVand the nation.

He was conferred with the Ho Chi Minh Order and the 55-yearParty membership badge, and many other noble distinctions.

To commemorate comrade Truong Vinh Trong, the CPV Central Committee,the National Assembly, the President, the Government and the VFF CentralCommittee decided to hold a State funeral for him.

Announcement on the respect-paying, memorial and burialceremonies for comrade Truong Vinh Trong:

The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee decidedthat the State Funeral Board includes 21 comrades, headed by Politburo memberand Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Comrade Truong Vinh Trong will be laid in state at the greathall of the Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee.

The respect-paying ceremony will take place from 8:00 am to7:00 pm at the great hall of the Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee onFebruary 21, and from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi, on the same day.

The memorial service will be held at 9:00 am at the greathall of the Ben Tre Provincial People’s Committee on February 22.

The burial ceremony will take place at 11:00 am on the sameday at the Martyrs Cemetery in Ben Tre province./.

16th NA reviews amendments to four tax-related laws on April 21

Lawmakers are expected to discuss the supplementary assessment of the implementation of the 2025 socio-economic development plan and state budget, as well as performance in the early months of 2026. They will also review the five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026–2030, thrift practices and anti-wastefulness efforts in 2025, and progress in achieving national gender equality targets. Draft law proposes flexible tax thresholds, extended incentives for EVs

Lawmakers suggest groundbreaking mechanisms to revive Vietnamese culture

The draft resolution seeks to lure more investment into cultural industries, aiming for the sector to contribute 7% to GDP by 2030 and 9% by 2045. It also sets ambitious goals of ranking Vietnam among the top three countries in Southeast Asia and the global top 30 for national soft power.

Pathways to double-digit growth to be tabled at 16th NA’s first session

In the morning sitting on April 20, deputies are expected to hear proposals and verification reports on a range of draft resolutions. The documents cover breakthrough mechanisms and policies for the development of Vietnamese culture; the establishment of Dong Nai as a centrally run city; a pilot framework for public lawyer institution; and special mechanisms to address land law violations committed prior to the 2024 Land Law taking effect, alongside measures to resolve long-delayed and stalled projects.
