The Lunar New Year is approaching, when most people are quickly returning to their hometown for the holiday, navy soldiers on the islands of Truong Sa district (Khanh Hoa province) still stay vigilant to safeguard the country’s sacred sovereignty.

An exhibition on the ASEAN Community and Vietnam’s seas and islands was opened in the border district of Bao Lac, Cao Bang province on July 24 by the provincial Department of Information and Communications, the Nhan Dan newspaper reported.
In addition to ensuring maritime safety in the surrounding territorial waters, lighthouses on islands of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago in Truong Sa district of the south central province of Khanh Hoa, have also affirmed Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands.
There are currently nine lighthouses on Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago's islands, namely Son Ca, Nam Yet, Sinh Ton, Da Lat, Da Tay, An Bang, Song Tu Tay, Tien Nu and Truong Sa Lon. In addition to ensuring maritime safety in the surrounding territorial waters, these lighthouses have also affirmed Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands.
On October 22, 2018, the Party Central Committee in the 12th tenure issued Resolution No 36-NQ/TW on the strategy for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine economy to 2030 and vision to 2045, in which the overall goal by 2030 is to turn the country into a strong maritime nation.
