State President Nguyen Minh Triet attended the national great unity festive day in Tao Phu village, Tam Hong commune, Yen Lac district, in the northern midland province of Vinh Phuc on Nov. 9.

Talking with the local people, President Triet expressed his pleasure at the development of Tao Phu village, which contributes to the development of Tam Hong commune, Yen Lac district, the province and the country as a whole.

Tao Phu village has been recognised as a cultured village of Vinh Phuc province for many years.

Since the “All Unite for Building a Cultured Life in Residential Quarters” movement was launched, more than 95 percent of households in the village have been acknowledged as “cultured family”.

Farming has generated an income of 65 million VND per ha, bringing in an annual average per capita income of 23 million VND.

Education and initial health care for local people have been improved and all roads in the village have been concreted.

Over the last decade, villagers have donated 100 million VND to funds for the poor, flood victims and Agent Orange victims.

According to the State President, the village’s development is attributable to each individual and family’s efforts, the consideration of authorities from provincial to commune levels and the spirit of solidarity.

Solidarity is a precious tradition of Vietnam which helped the country attain independence and achievements in national construction, he said.

On the occasion of the 80 th founding day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (Nov. 18), President Triet commended the mass organisation on the effectiveness of its two movements, “All Unite for Building a Cultured Life in Residential Quarters” and “Day for the Poor”.

In any condition, any circumstance, if the great unity bloc is maintained, it would be an absolute strength to help the country overcome all difficulties, stressed the President, adding that all people should consolidate the bloc.

He also asked every Vietnamese person to make more efforts to further develop the country and successfully build socialism./.
