Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Stringent measures to prevent the resurgence of COVID-19 infections have been put in place along the Thai-Malaysian border, especially blocking natural entry channels.
Tha Kham in Waeng district, Narathiwat province, is one of the areas along the Su-ngai Kolok River, where illegal border crossings are highly probable. Military and police officers, together with the Narathiwat Task Force and villagers, are keeping a close watch on the area, around the clock.
The Commander of the Thepsatri Task Force, Maj. Gen. Santi Sakunnak, this week visited officers on patrol in Su-ngai Kolok and Tak Bai districts, and patrolled the Su-ngai Kolok River to inspect border security operations along the 30-kilometer course.
Maj. Gen. Santi instructed military personnel to monitor the situation closely, protect themselves and be prepared to prevent illegal immigration and other illegal activities at any time.
He said Thai and Malaysian authorities have been working together well, and have arrested drug traffickers. Meanwhile, all vessels docking at Thai ports must be inspected to prevent migrant workers from illegally entering the country. The military is working with the Thai Marine Police Division and the administrative sector to control the situation./.
