The annual event, organised bythe State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) since2003, creates an opportunity for overseas youngsters to learn aboutnational traditions, culture and history, as well as enhancingsolidarity and exchanges.
This year’s camp, themed “10 years – The call of the homeland” marks the 10 th anniversary of its foundation.
“I sought much information about Vietnam on the Internet beforecoming back to the join the camp,” said 18-year-old Nguyen Thi KieuOanh, a Vietnamese expatriate living in the Czech Republic .
“I promise to study harder, with the pride and tradition of apeace-loving nation,” Oanh said, expressing her hope to join hands tobetter develop a beautiful Vietnam .

According to Deputy Foreign Minister and Head ofCOVA Nguyen Thanh Son, the 10th annual Vietnam Summer Camp aims to helpyoung overseas Vietnamese better understand the history and culture oftheir nation of origin, therefore enhancing their attachment to thecountry.
The camp is scheduled to open in northeast Ha Giangprovince, travelling through nine different provinces to end in thecountry’s southernmost province of Ca Mau .
Participants will have the chance to take part in a string ofactivities, namely youth exchanges, offering incense at the King Hungtemple and visiting President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.-VNA
