Summer camp unites Indochinese children
As many as 190 children from Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia flocked to a summer camp in Ho Chi Minh City on August 10.
As many as 190 children from Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia flocked to a summer camp in Ho Chi Minh City on August 10.
The camp aims to encourage children to follow Vietnam President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, focusing on unity, thirst for study, a strong work ethic, courtesy and honesty as shown in the names of the participants’ five teams.
During their three-day camp in the city named after President Ho Chi Minh, children will pay floral tribute to the late president at his museum and visit the Nha Rong Wharf , where the president left the country to begin his cause for national salvation.
They will also be shown around the Museum of War Relics , Vietnam History Museum and the former revolutionary base in Can Gio district.
Campers are also scheduled to hold an exchange of art with municipal children, watch water puppetry, be engaged in a journey to Cu Chi district (dubbed as Steel Land ) and enjoy entertainment in Dam Sen park.
It is one of a series of events Ho Chi Minh City hosts to respond to a programme highlighting Vietnam ’s role as the President of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2010.
The event is expected to promote caring and sharing attitudes among children from seven provinces in the three countries, namely Vientiane (capital), Champasak and Attapeu provinces of Laos , Phnom Penh (capital), Rattanak Kiri and Stung Treng provinces of Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam./.
