Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong on Dec. 29 asked the Government Inspectorate to continue with operation reforms in order to be more effective in finding solutions to petitions and complaints.

He made this statement in a meeting held to review this year’s inspections and to drafts tasks for the next year.

Trong asked the agency to overcome existing shortcomings, including the late development of a detailed inspection mechanism and plans, ineffective inspections and a lack of practical solutions to petitions and complaints.

He added that cooperation in the system from the central to local levels and positive changes to inspections has still not been effective.
The deputy PM asked the agency to improve its operation mechanisms as well as the competence level of its staff.

Specific officers should be given authority by leaders to directly supervise and manage solutions to complicated complaints. They must also cooperate with relevant localities to come to reasonable solutions on the cases, he added.

In 2009, the Government Inspectorate conducted 60,000 inspections. Administrative punishments were doled out to more than 103,000 individuals and organisations.

The agency solved more than 90 percent of the complaints it received this year./.
