Hanoi (VNA) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Tran Thanh Man sent his sympathies on July 11 to the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Cambodia and Vietnamese people in the country on the losses due to a fire in Russey Keo district of Phnom Penh one day earlier.

The fire began at 3:30am on July 10 in Russey Keo district, completely destroying the houses and assets of tens of households, most of whom are Vietnamese-Cambodian people.

In his message, on behalf of the VFFCC Standing Board, Man offered their deepest sympathies to the Vietnamese and Cambodian families affected by the fire.

To help victims recover from the fire’s consequences, the VFFCC, through the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, will support each of the 70 families with houses completely destroyed with 20 million VND (over 870 USD), he noted.

He also expressed his hope that the families would soon overcome their difficulties and stabilise their lives.

Shortly after the incident, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Khmer-Vietnamese Association sent staff to the site and had working sessions with local authorities and police to seek aid for the victims. -VNA
