At the reception for the Thai Parliamentary delegation, Le Thi Bich Huong, Vice Chair of the Quang Ninh province People’s Committee, briefed attendees on local socio-economic development, particularly the potential for ship building and mineral exploitation.

The tour of Ha Long Bay followed Chidchob’s meeting with Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong on July 21 upon his arrival in Hanoi to discuss measures to boost bilateral ties to contribute to ASEAN unity.

Vietnam ’s Ha Long Bay is currently one of the top 28 nominees to advance to the final stage of a voting campaign for the world’s seven modern natural wonders.

On July 21, the NewOpenWorld website posted that the bay, which was twice recognised by UNESCO for its beautiful landscapes and geological uniqueness, ranks 12th among the 28 candidates in terms of votes./.
