Bangkok (VNA/NNT) – The Thai Ministry of Commerce will join hands with the private sector to hold THAIFEX-World of Food 2016, enlisting the world-renowned German event organizer Koelnmesse (kuhln-MES-suh)’s aid to promote Thai food and agricultural products.
Deputy Minister of Commerce Winichai Chaemchaeng said that THAIFEX-World of Food 2016 will likely take place in late May at Impact Muang Thong Thani.
The event will look to assert Thai food products on the world stage, while itself aiming to become Asia's most prominent food industry convention.
Producers from up to 40 nations have already registered to take part in the fair, which is expected to generate up to 1.5 billion THB in sales, adding to a seven billion THB forecast for the year.
The Thai Ministry of Commerce has placed great importance on the Thai food sector, as it is among the top five sources of export revenue for the Kingdom, reaching 24 billion USD last year.-VNA
