Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Government will test 5G services in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in preparation for the development of S-Curve and new S-Curve industries.
Thai Minister of the Digital Economy and Society Pichet Durongkaveroj said that the installation of equipment for 5G services is being conducted at Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus, after which the 5G network will be tested across industries such as public health, electric rail, hybrid car production, and the smart city project. The trial will last about three months.
The move aims to prepare the EEC zone for the development of S-Curve and new S-Curve industries namely next-generation automotive, intelligent electronics, advance agriculture and biotechnology, food processing, tourism, digital application, robotics and automation, aviation and logistics, biofuels and biochemical, and a medical hub.
5G is the fifth generation of cellular mobile communications. 5G performance targets a high data rate, reduced latency, energy saving, cost reduction, higher system capacity, and massive device connectivity.-NNT/VNA
