Thailand ’s new Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra arrived in the Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh on September 15, beginning her visit to Cambodia at the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
As scheduled, the Thai PM hold talks with her Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen. They are expected to discuss sea and solutions to disputes relating to Preah Vihear Temple .
According to Cambodian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Koy Kuong, the visit will help to restore relations and bilateral cooperation in all fields between Cambodia and Thailand . He added that the relations between the two countries got back to normal.
Cambodia is the third destination in Yingluck’s four-country visit to the Southeast Asian countries, including Brunei , Indonesia and Laos .
Yingluck’s visit was expected to open a new page in the relations between the two countries after many years of tension due to territorial disputes.
Thailand does not dispute Cambodia 's ownership of Preah Vihear, but both sides claim a 4.6-square-kilometre (1.8-square-mile) area of adjacent land.
In February, 10 people were killed in fighting at the temple site and freshh clashes broke out further west in April, leaving 18 dead./.
