Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Hua Hin airport in the southern Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Khan is ready to welcome the first commercial flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 18, in bid to help boost the local tourism.
Hua Hin Airport Director Apisit Ubolkomut revealed his airport has been fully prepared to welcome the first international commercial flight from Kuala Lumpur, which will start connecting the seaside resort town with Malaysia's capital from May 18.
The service between Kuala Lumpur and Hua Hin will be operated by Malaysia's low-cost carrier AirAsia using a 180-seater Airbus A320 aircraft, with flight AK830 departing Kuala Lumpur at 10 a.m. and arriving in Hua Hin at 11 a.m., and flight AK831 departing Hua Hin at 11:30 a.m. and arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 2:35 p.m. local time. The inaugural flight to Hua Hin on May 18 will carry 150 passengers and crew members.
The airport director assured the facilities at Hua Hin airport are fully prepared to handle the new service at the capacity of 300 passengers per day, adding that the opening of this scheduled passenger route will help boost local tourism and the economy of Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
This service is considered the first international scheduled passenger service to and from Hua Hin airport, which currently handles only chartered flights.-VNA
