Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Government is discussing with Austria future cooperation on the East Economic Corridor (EEC), particularly a project to build a smart city in Rayong province, according to Thai Minister of Industry Utama Savanayon.
Utama said on April 17 that as Austria is working on a smart city in Vienna, Thailand hopes to receive technology from the European country to develop similar models at EEC.
The minister said Thailand and Austria began talks on the cooperation in 2017 following a visit to Austria by the Thai Ministry of Industry.
Representatives from the two countries also met in March on the idea.
At the same time, China’s Huawei is also negotiating with the Thai Government on its plan to open the second digital lab in the EEC following the inauguration of the first one in Bangkok last year.-VNA
