A major security operation is underway for the upcoming 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit (APWS) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The 2nd APWS Leaders Forum commemorating King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary will be held during May 14-20 at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Chiang Mai.
More than 3,000 delegates, including heads of state and government leaders from 49 Asia and Pacific countries, are expected to attend the summit.
The Division of Provincial Police Region 5 has rehearsed security operation at the summit venue with 2,500 police officers to be dispatched to safeguard the delegates.
Traffic routes have been designated for the official convoys of heads of state and government while the Highway Police and the Tourist Police will facilitate those leaders upon their arrival by leading them from the Wing 41 Air Force Base in Chiang Mai to their respective accommodations and to the summit venue.-VNA
