Bangkok (VNA)Thailand is updating its plans to attract more tourists to the country, according to Thai experts.

Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, Deputy Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand, said although Thailand has many advantages for tourism development such as ancient temples, shopping centres, resorts and beaches, the country has faced a range of difficulties and challenges due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the global economic crisis.

To address these challenges, Thailand has devised specific tourism development plans, including short-term, quarterly, annual and five-year plans, aiming to at increased tourism numbers.

Thai authorities are coordinating with partners such as airlines, travel agencies, theme parks, restaurants, and hotels in tourism promotion. Currently, the country is focusing on promoting its 5F soft-power foundations - food, film, festival, fight, and fashion.

Thailand is implementing other measures to directly attract potential sources of tourists. Specifically, to attract Chinese visitors, it is pushing ahead with the resumption of direct flights between the two countries and organising large Chinese festivals in Thailand./.
