Phnom Penh (VNA) – The SME Thailand Exhibition 2016 will be organised in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from June 23-26, with the aim to boost bilateral trade.

According to Jiranun Wongmongkol, Trade Counselor at the Thai Embassy in Cambodia, in the first four months of 2016, two-way trade between the two countries reached 1.7 billion USD, a decrease of 15 percent compared with that of the same period last year.

Of the total, Thailand’s exports to Cambodia were valued at 1.4 billion USD, down 20 percent, while its imports were 350 million USD, up 12 percent.

The decrease in Thailand’s export value was attributed to the fall in prices of several commodities, notably petrol and oil.

Two-way trade between Thailand and Cambodia hit 5.6 billion USD in 2015, of which Thailand earned nearly 5 billion USD.-VNA
