Bangkok (VNA) - Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand(CLMVT) should build a joint master plan for connectivity and keyinfrastructure to raise the region’s competitiveness, said Deputy PrimeMinister of Thailand Somkid Jatuspritak.
Thai media quoted the Deputy PM’s statement as saying at a seminarentitled "CLMVT - New Economic Drivers of Asia" held recently inBangkok.
According to Somkid, with a combined population of 230 million peopleand an average economic growth of 6 - 8 percent, the countries are drawinginvestment from China, India, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the United Statesand the European Union.
Foreign investors could also see Thailand, particularly the country’sEastern Economic Corridor, as a gateway to CLMV, he said, encouragingCLMV-based companies to list on the stock market to increase investment capitalfor many projects.-VNA
