Thailand - Vietnam’s largest trade partner in ASEAN

Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trade partner in ASEAN with a total bilateral trade revenue of 17.3 billion USD in 2018 and a target of 20 billion USD in 2020.

With a total coastline of 3219 km long and 36 archipelagos, Thailand is one of the most famous tourist paradise.

Vietnam-Thailand established diplomatic relations on August 6, 1976, and upgraded to "Strategic Partners" in June 2013. Political relations between Vietnam and Thailand have been well maintained. The two countries often exchange delegations, have both high and low-level contacts and implement effective bilateral cooperation mechanism.

Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trade partner in ASEAN with a total bilateral trade revenue of 17.3 billion USD in 2018 and a target of 20 billion USD in 2020.

Thailand is currently the 10th largest foreign investor among 116 countries and territories investing in Vietnam and ranked 3rd in ASEAN with a total registered capital of over 8 billion USD.

The projects focus mostly on areas such as infrastructure development, energy, processing industry and services. Cultural, tourism and educational cooperation between the two countries is constantly developing.

In 2018, more than 300,000 Thai tourists came to Vietnam, and over 1 million Vietnamese tourists visited Thailand. The Thai government also annually provides about 100 undergraduate and master scholarships to Vietnamese students.

As the chairmen of ASEAN in 2019 and 2020 respectively, Thailand and Vietnam has agreed to work with other member states to promote ASEAN's central role in common regional issues.

With the determination of the leaders and people of the two countries, the Vietnam-Thailand Strategic Partnership will surely grow stronger in the future./.

HCM City to use municipal budget for Metro Line No. 2 project

The Metro Line No. 2 project has an estimated investment of nearly 47.9 trillion VND (2 billion USD) and has nearly completed land clearance, at 99.8%. The NA’s Resolution 188 authorises HCM City to develop seven metro lines spanning 355 kilometres over the next decade, with preliminary total investment for the 2025-2035 phase estimated at 40.2 billion USD.
