A briefing held in Sam Son township, the central coastal province of Thanh Hoa, on May 13 updated local fishermen with the latest information about their sea and islands, in order to ensure their safety when they work at sea.
Organised by the Thanh Hoa Border Guard High Command and the Central Coastal Radio Station, the function updated fishermen from Quang Tien ward on the recent East Sea situation, including the violation of Vietnam’s waters by foreign ships.
The attendees also received an overview on the Tonkin Gulf Demarcation Agreement between Vietnam and China.
Additionally, regulations on the catching of seafood in the sea were provided to them, together with telephone numbers for search-and-rescue teams in case of emergencies.
At present, more than 170 fishing vessels of Quang Tien ward are operating in joint fishing grounds of Vietnam and China.-VNA
