Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation from the Vietnam Maritime Administration visited the crew abroad three foreign ships which have been abandoned by their owner – China-based Jumbo Sino Investment Development Ltd., on September 15-16.

The ship Amiri has run aground in the waters of Thai Binh sea port in the northern province of Thai Binh since July 28.

According to its captain Soe Lwin, all 11 sailors on board are from Myanmar. They live on food and necessities provided by local authorities.

Meanwhile, the ship Shun Da, with eight Chinese and three Burmese aboard, and the ship Yong Win 18, with three Chinese and nine Burmese aboard, have anchored at the Nam Trieu Shipbuilding Company in the northern port city of Hai Phong for a long time.

According to the crew of the three ships, they have not received salaries for months. The ship owner has not provided basic necessities like food, water and fuel for them, neither.

A representative from the Vietnam Maritime Administration said that the agency has repeatedly contacted the ship owner, requiring it to pay salaries and ensure living conditions for the crew members in line with regulations of the International Maritime Organisation and the International Labour Organisation. However, the agency has yet to receive any replies so far.-VNA

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.
