Ba Ria – Vung Tau (VNA) – The Tien Phong Marathon 2019, the 60th of its kind, was held in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau on March 24.

Co-organised by the Tien Phong newspaper, the Vietnam Athletics Federation and the provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the event attracted nearly 2,000 local and foreign athletes, including over 200 professional ones competing in 42,195km, 21km, 10km and 5km events.

About 1,000 others, including students, youths, armed forces, workers and civil cadres also joined the run.

After nearly four hours of competition, the first prize went to Binh Phuoc team while the second prize was won by Bac Giang team and the third prize to Ba Ria – Vung Tau team.

Members of the national athletics team also won gold medals at the events, including Bui The Anh, Nguyen Van Lai, Do Quoc Luat and Pham Thi Hong Le.-VNA
