Quang Ninh (VNA) – The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) launched the tourism application Vietnamgo in the northern province of Quang Ninh on January 16.
The event formed part of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2019.
Speaking at the event, VNPT General Director Ngo Dien Hy said the app features travelling information, weather conditions, major destinations, and local specialties, written in both Vietnamese and English. It also offers 360-degree photos, as well as 3D and virtual reality viewing.
The app will help improve the service quality of units in the tourism supply chain, as well as increase their interaction.
During the next stage, VNPT pledged to continue partnering with VNAT, cities, and provinces to popularise Vietnam’s tourism by updating the app features this year, including adding more destinations, Chinese and Russian language options, information on restaurants, shopping centres and traffic, digital mapping, audio guides, and 360-degree videos.
By 2020, it will develop new functions, adopt big data, and utilise artificial intelligence technology to increase users’ experience.
Hy suggested localities provide tourism information through the app to effectively introduce their locations and top sites to tourists. –VNA
