Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s tourismsector is making efforts to go green and spread awareness via community-basedcampaigns.

In May 2018, the Ministry of Culture, Sportsand Tourism in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU),ran a large-scale environmental protection campaign, themed “green Vietnamesesea”, in five central coastal provinces.

Members of the HCYU cleaned beaches and broughtclean water to locals affected by drought and saltwater intrusion.

Tourism companies have also taken part inthe effort.

In July 2018, the Muong Thanh Group, whichowns 53 hotels and hotel projects across 40 provinces, launched its annual“Keep me clean – Keep me saving” campaign. Aiming to protect water resources,about 10,000 staffers and customers of the firm cleaned beaches and river areasthroughout the campaign.

Vietravel, which was named ‘Vietnam’s BestTravel Agency’ at the TTG Travel Awards ceremony last year, has developed toursin line with its social responsibility.

For years, it has run a “For a green, cleantourism environment” campaign, urging people to stop littering. Vietravel’s clientshave been at the centre of the campaign as they are best able to spread theenvironmental protection message across their destinations.

Vietnam has 3,200-km of coast and more than2,770 islands and beaches. However, climate change and tourism are harming the environment.-VNA

According to the Ta Dung National Park Management Board, the park has for years served as a trusted destination for authorities and residents to hand over and release wildlife. Ca Mau approves investment policy for waste-to-energy plant

The waste-to-energy plant is planned for construction in Dat Moi commune, covering a total area of about 20 hectares. It will have a waste treatment capacity of approximately 600 tonnes of household waste per day and a power generation capacity of 6MW.
