A 170km-longpipe network will be installed to give nearly 2,800 families in Chau Thanh’seight communes and over 1,200 households in Cang Long’s three communes, mostaffected by drought and saline intrusion, access to clean water.
Thesehouseholds have suffered water shortage during dry season, making them useunsafe or costly alternatives, such as surface water, rain water or bottledwater.
According toDirector of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development PhamMinh Truyen, Tra Vinh has 158 rural water supply projects, 23 of which arelocated in areas prone to drought and saltwater intrusion.
The installationis expected to finish during this year’s dry season./.
