Traditional outfits of Cong ethnic people in Lai Chau
The Cong ethnic group, also known as the Xa, Mang, and other names, live in Vietnam’s northwestern region, primarily in the provinces of Lai Chau and Dien Bien. They are among ethnic groups with a population of fewer than 10,000 people but have preserved many of their distinctive traditional cultural features.

With rituals, performances, and dances reflecting religious concepts, Then Kin Pang is a major festival containing unique artistic values and clearly expresses the creative thinking of the Black Thai ethnic people in Lai Chau province.
the Xo Dang ethnic people in the Central Highlands, and is where the villagers thank the Gods and the genies and pray to them to be blessed with a bumper crop, a full stock of rice and maize, productive animals, prosperity, and happiness.
“Banh giay” (round glutinous rice cake) is an indispensable dish on a Tet offering tray of the Pa Then ethnic people in Lam Binh district, Tuyen Quang province. The cakes are offered to ancestors and gods on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year to pray for good weather, bumper crops, prosperity, and happiness.
In addition to the majority Mong ethnic group in the resort town of Sa Pa in Lao Cai province are four other groups: Red Dao, Tay, Giay, and Xa Pho. However, as most people only have a short period of time in Sa Pa, it can be a challenge for them to explore the cultures of all five groups.
