The Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR) has announced to reduce train fares by 10 percent for passengers and 5-20 percent for cargo due to the decline in oil prices.
VNR Director Vu Ta Tung said the 10-percent decrease is applied for passengers on the North-South train routes from January 1 to February 1.
For cargo transportation, a 5-percent reduction is applied for cargo loaded at stations from Hanoi to Vinh for transport to stations in the south.
Cement loaded in full train carriage for transport from central Da Nang city to northern provinces will have a transport price decrease of 10 percent.
Meanwhile, containers loaded in full train carriage for transport between Hai Phong station and Dong Dang station in the north will be down by 20 percent.
