Training course seeks to improve Vietnamese-language teaching abroad

The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (OV) Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training’s Department of Continuing Education, on August 30 organised the closing ceremony for a training course on Vietnamese-language teaching for Vietnamese teachers abroad in 2023.

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (OV) Affairs,in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training’s Department ofContinuing Education, on August 30 organised the closing ceremony for a trainingcourse on Vietnamese-language teaching for Vietnamese teachers abroad in 2023.

Deputy Chairman of the committee Mai Phan Dung saidthat in recent years, the overseas Vietnamese community has grown stronger andbeen present in over 130 countries and territories.

Therefore, maintaining the mother tongue is extremely urgentand a priority in the committee's OV-related work, Dung stressed.

The training course, which opened on August 16, drew theparticipation of over 60 Vietnamese teachers from 17 countries and territories.

Held since 2013, the course has to date benefited over 800teachers.

Participants had a chance to take part in sidelineactivities aimed at enhancing education and dissemination on the history,tradition and cultural identity of the nation, and promoting the image of thecountry and people, and the comprehensive renewal process of Vietnam./.

Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills

In his opening speech, PM Pham Minh Chinh revealed the Government’s plan to submit 63 documents and reports to the 15th NA’s 9th session, including 37 draft laws and regulatory resolutions, all aimed at having a wide-ranging impact on society. Earlier this month, feedback was provided on six other draft laws and resolutions.
