Sappers of the Military Command of southern Can Tho city on April 11 successfully defused two bombs on the embankment of Hau River in Cai Khe ward, Minh Kieu district.

Discovered in the bed of Hau River, the bombs were defined as high explosive ones, each with a weight of 250 pounds (about 125 kg).

Since the start of 2013, the Command has collected and defused more than one tonnes of bombs of different types, ensuring the safety for people and construction projects.

Vietnam was subjected to 15 million bombs, mines, artillery shells and other munitions. As much as 10 percent of these ordnances are estimated to have failed to explode.-VNA
