Two DNA testing facilities for war heroes to be built

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on July 25 approved the establishment of two DNA testing facilities to identify remains of Vietnamese war martyrs without adequate personal information.

Accordingly, a testing centre will be built by the Ministry of PublicSecurity with a cost of 285 billion VND (13.4 million USD) and anotherworth 229 billion VND (10.7 million USD) by the Vietnam Academy ofScience and Technology.

The Prime Minister also assigned leaders of the two offices to speed up related works and procedures.

Vietnam is striving to identify remains of 80,000 martyrs withoutadequate personal information by genetic testing by 2020.

Millions of Vietnamese soldiers fell down for the national liberationduring the two resistance wars against French and US forces as well asin international missions in Laos and Cambodia.

Thousands of the fallen are still unaccounted for across Vietnam and the two neighbouring countries.VNA

Search efforts continue for Vietnamese fallen soldiers in Cambodia

During the 2026-2027 dry season, Teams K70, K71, K72 and K73 will continue their search and repatriation mission, striving to fulfil the target based on 185 pieces of information concerning 761 graves. Each team is expected to collect at least 100 sets of remains during each deployment.
