Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam has sent two representatives to the International Weightlifting Federation’s Junior World Championships 2016 in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia, which will be take place on June 23-July 2.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai will compete in the women’s 63kg class. Mai won two bronze medals in April at the Asian championship in Uzbekistan.

Mai ranks third in her category with a result of 200kg. She is joined in her category by 20 other participants, with Rim Un-sim of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) leading the group with her best result of 235kg. She is followed by Duran Ayon Ana Lilia from Mexico who lifted 218kg.

Another Vietnamese Nguyen Thi Van will take part in the women’s 69kg category.

Van, whose registered result is 200kg, will face 15 rivals from different countries. Among them are title favourites Neisi Patricia Dajomes Barrera from Ecuador who lifts 230kg, and Rebekah Jade Tiler of Great Britain with a best result of 224kg.-VNA
