Hanoi (VNS/VNA) — The national U22 team on September 2 morning left for China to compete at the CFA Team China International Friendly Competition Changsha 2024 in Hunan province.

Coach Dinh Hong Vinh selects 23 players from the recent national U21 championship and young stars of the national teams such as midfielder Nguyen Thai Son, strikers Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Quoc Viet, and Nguyen Dinh Bac.

At the four-side competition, Vietnam will play the hosts on September 4, Uzbekistan on September 7 and Malaysia three days later.

“My players had several days of training from August 30 to September 1 in Hanoi. Many of them are new and lack of international experience. But I have added some quality players who played for the national team," said coach Vinh.

"We will play three matches in China. The purpose of this friendly tournament is to evaluate and review the players’ quality and ability preparing for the future tournaments of the U22s and national team."

In the upcoming time, Vietnam will take part in the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup in September, 2025, and the 33rd SEA Games in December, 2025./.
