The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) on August 4 inked a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Finance’s Public Asset Management Department to help the Vietnamese side better the practice of public procurement.

The partnership was formed within the USTDA’s Global Procurement Initiative: Understanding Best Value (GPI).

Accordingly, the US agency will provide training and technical support for the Vietnamese Government to implement a newly amended law which aims at best-value procurement practices.

USTDA Director for Global Programmes Andrea Lupo described the programme as an important step to intensify economic relations between the US and Vietnam .

The same day, USTDA launched training courses on public procurement techniques in Hanoi, Da Nang city and Ho Chi Minh City for some 150 officials.-VNA
