President of the Vietnam-US Association Nguyen Tam Chien welcomed the US left-wing activist Rennie Davis in Hanoi on January 14.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and reinforce the Vietnam-US ties, especially as the two countries mark the 20th anniversary of the normalisation of their relations, Chien said.
He briefed the guests on the socio-economic achievements in Vietnam as well as the country’s efforts in addressing war consequences.
Rennie Davis said his visit aims to carry out several people-to-people exchanges and gather information to serve humanitarian campaigns to raise aid for Vietnam in surmounting the consequences of bombs and mines and Agent Orange/dioxin contamination.-VNA
