Former Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Tam Chien on June 20 received a 17 member delegation from the Trinity Upper School in New York.

Michael Alan Berkowitz, a teacher of the school and head of the delegation said the purpose of their visit is to explore the Vietnamese people and nation between June 18 and July 1.

Through a home stay programme in Hanoi and working visits to Mai Chau (northern Hoa Binh province), “Trinity School’s teachers and students will develop a deeper understanding of the Vietnamese people and nation,” said the teacher.

Chien, who is also Standing Vice President of Vietnam-US Association, applauded the delegation’s visit, while introducing the roles that the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-US Association play in fostering the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and international organisations.

Most of the school’s teachers and students expressed their keenness on exploring the Vietnamese culture, typical religions, as well as learning about the environment and employment prospects of Vietnamese students.

During their stay, the delegation is scheduled to visit several beauty spots, historic and cultural sites in various places across the nation, including Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.-VNA
