A ceremony was held at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Dec. 13 to repatriate the remains of US servicemen who died during the war in Vietnam .

Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personnel (VNOSMP) and Commander of the US MIA Office in Hanoi , Lieut. Patrick Keane, along with representatives from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC).

Vietnamese representatives handed over two boxes of remains which were found during the 105 th Joint Field Activities from October to December 2011, and discovered by Vietnamese citizens.

These remains have been jointly reviewed by Vietnam and US forensic specialists who concluded that they might be associated with US servicemen missing during the war in Vietnam , recommending the remains be taken to Hawaii in the US , for further review.

This is the 121 st hand-over of American MIAs’ remains since 1973 when the two governments launched their joint search cooperative activity.

Addressing the ceremony, the US Government representative expressed deep gratitude and high appreciation for the steadfast humanitarian policy, goodwill and increasingly efficient cooperation of the Vietnamese Government and people./.
