Vice State President, Chief Justice of Supreme People’s Court, Prosecutor General of Supreme People’s Procuracy elected

The 15th National Assembly adopted resolutions on the elections of Vice State President, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy during its first session in Hanoi on July 26.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th National Assemblyadopted resolutions on the elections of Vice State President, Chief Justice ofthe Supreme People’s Court and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’sProcuracy during its first session in Hanoi on July 26.

With 483 deputies voting yes, or 96.79 percent of the totalnumber of lawmakers, the legislature approved the resolution on the election Vo Thi Anh Xuan, member of the 13th Party Central Committee and Vice State President in the 2016-2021 tenure (since April 2021), as ViceState President in the 2021-2026 tenure.

As many as 480 deputies, or 96.19 percent of the total number of legislators, voted for the resolution on the election of Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member, Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court in the2016-2021 tenure and deputy of the 15th legislature, as ChiefJustice of the Supreme People’s Court in the 2021-2026 tenure.

With 480 approval votes, accounting for 96.19 percent of thetotal number of NA deputies, the legislature also ratified the resolution on the election of Le Minh Tri, member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy inthe 2016-2021 tenure, deputy of the 15th NA, as Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy in the 2021-2026 tenure.

The abovesaid Resolutions took effect right after they were approved by the NA.

Earlier, the NA Standing Committee reported the outcomes ofdiscussions in groups about the list of candidates for these positions. The list was later adopted by electronic voting.

The legislature then elected the Vice State President, ChiefJustice of the Supreme People’s Court and Prosecutor General of the SupremePeople’s Procuracy by secret ballots./.

The legislature approved the appointment of Politburo member and NA Vice Chairman Do Van Chien as Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Election Council and head of its Personnel Sub-committee; and Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai as Vice Chairwoman.

The vote, part of the parliament's ongoing 10th session, saw 412 out of 412 deputies in attendance approve, representing 100% of those present and 86.92% of the full legislature.
