Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan has applauded international benefactors for their humanitarian activities in Vietnam , saying such good deeds have warmed millions of Vietnamese hearts.
Doan was speaking with over 150 domestic and international delegates at the second partnership meeting of the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC), in Hanoi on Sept. 22.
On behalf of the State and the Vietnamese people, she expressed thanks for the effective support channelled by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, national Red Cross societies as well as domestic and international individuals, and organisations for underprivileged and vulnerable Vietnamese people.
On the occasion, the Vice State President praised the achievements in humanitarian and charitable activities the VRC has recorded over the past three years.
At the two-day meeting, the VRC proposed 53 programmes and projects calling for sponsorship, which are the association’s priorities in the next five years.
Since 2008, the VRC has received and implemented some 90 projects with nearly 465 billion VND disbursed, the association reported.
At present, 33 other programmes and projects are going on with a total capital of 151 billion VND, focused mainly on disaster prevention and assistance. /.
