The Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) has handed over to the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre several schools and clinics it built last year for the locality.
At a ceremony on January 30, the bank also presented 400 houses to poor families in the province, which were worth nearly 32 billion VND (1.5 million USD) in all.
The construction was funded by the bank’s profit and its staff’s donations.
Addressing the ceremony, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan lauded VietinBank’s significant contribution to social welfare efforts in the province over the past few years.
She expressed her hope that the bank will continue assisting the province in social welfare initiatives.
Since 2009, the bank has donated over 6.5 million USD in the form of houses for the poor and public facilities to Ben Tre province.-VNA
