The PM made the commitment while receiving DirectorGeneral of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano inHanoi on January 8.
The Prime Minister expressed his delightat the fine collaboration between Vietnam and the IAEA in the past,hoping that the agency will provide continued support for the country inthe field, especially in adopting nuclear energy in medicine andagriculture as well as training personnel and building institutions andpolicies.
The IAEA head spoke highly of the positive roleVietnam has played in promoting nuclear security and safety in theworld, citing the country’s admission to a range of internationalconventions on nuclear energy, including one on nuclear power.
Yukiya Amano stressed Vietnam is one of IAEA’s important partners,pledging to support the country in deploying civil nuclear energyprojects, thus helping it fulfil UN millennium development goals.-VNA
