The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced on April 21 it has resumed all flights to Europe and vice versa, following its six successful flights to France and Russia on April 19-20.

The move came after the airline was forced to cancel 21 flights from the country to Russia  Germany and France, over the last week due to ash clouds spewed from an Icelandic volcano, trapping over 6,400 passengers at airports.

Vietnam Airlines said it will take five days running a total of 24 flights to transport all the trapped passengers once the skies reopen.

By the end of April 21, the carrier had operated four added flights along with scheduled ones on routes connecting Vietnam with Russia , Germany and France.

With its efforts, the airline transported all the stranded passengers on the Vietnam-Russia route by April 21, and expected to carry all the trapped passengers on the Vietnam-France route by April 23./.
